Squarespace Website Manager

Tasks: 

  • Upload content to website for initial launch and mid-month launch 

  • Make edits and changes as requested

  • Be well versed in Squarespace SEO (a plus but not a must)

  • Do regular maintenance checks 

Social Media Copywriter (Bluesky/Threads)

Tasks: 

  • Brainstorm and Implement content for Bluesky and Threads

  • Be creative and engaging

  • Coordinate with Social Media team for cross platform continuity 

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    • Strong written and verbal communication

    • MUST BE CREATIVE!!

    • Must love reading and be in touch with the reading community.

Social Media Content Creator (Instagram)

Tasks: 

  • Brainstorm fun and creative content for Instagram

  • Create fun and creative content (graphics) for Instagram

  • Coordinate with Social Media team for cross platform continuity 

    • Must have experience/proficiency in Canva or related editing platforms. 

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    • Strong written and verbal communication

    • MUST BE CREATIVE!!

    • Must love reading and be in touch with the reading community. 

Investigator

Tasks: 

  • Research books, content, and personnel mentioned in articles for cases of harm perpetuated to communities or views that do not align with Readin’s mission/ could harm Readin’s community

  • Be aware or willing to do research on cultural norms and practices for communities to best recognize good or bad representation. 

  • Experience/Skills: 

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    • Strong written and verbal communication

    • Must be compassionate and open-minded

    • Must love reading and be in touch with the reading community. 

Publicist

Tasks: 

  • Research and brainstorm press and interview opportunities to help expand Readin’s overall reach and brand awareness

  • Build a media list of contacts to reach out to for opportunities (newspapers, magazines, podcasts, and even influencers)

  • Pitch media outlets and coordinate media coverage (interviews, placements, etc.)

  • Assist in creating press releases, a media kit, and media alerts

  • Support the events team with any logistical and organizational planning

  • Maintain relationships with media outlets, news reporters, writers, etc.

    • Have studied, currently studying or have previous experience working in PR 

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    • Strong written and verbal communication

Book Reporter

Tasks: 

  • Monitor email and DMs for any pitches regarding ARC or book reviews

  • Research any submissions personnel beforehand to look for any cases of harm perpetuated to communities or views that do not align with Readin’s mission/ could harm Readin’s community

  • Read books, take detailed notes, and determine whether or not the book aligns with Readin’s mission and community interests

  • Communicate with the founders about which books would be best suited to the Readin’ community’s interests

  • Write a book report that includes the following (but is not limited to):

    • A compelling synopsis of the book

    • Insight into the book's writing style, theme, tropes, etc.

    • A reader profile of who the book would be for

    • A list of comp titles for the book so those who are unfamiliar with the title can see what other books are similar 

    • A feature on the author

  • Work with the Founders to craft the best format for our Readin’ book reports

    • Must have an interest in reading across all genres

    • Be able to keep an open and unbiased mind when reading books to deliver the best possible report of the book (just because a book is outside your personal taste doesn’t mean that other people won’t find it interesting)

    • Be a relatively fast reader 

    • Have a background in English Literature and/or Creative Writing or similar area of interest 

    • Strong written and time-management skills
