Below is a list of book series that are written by and/or featuring transgender, non-binary, genderqueer, gender-nonconforming, and 2Spirit authors and characters. Book Series Recommendations

Books series are a great way to continue diversifying your reading and supporting these authors outside of this readathon. These are all either the first book in a series, or a sequel within a series that has been completed!

Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse (2021)

This is an adult epic fantasy, written by an Indigenous author, and inspired by the civilizations of the Pre-Columbian Americas woven into a tale of celestial prophecies, political intrigue, and forbidden magic.

She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan (2022)

This is an adult high fantasy with political and military intrigue, and supernatural elements. It is a retelling of the rise to power of the Ming Dynasty's founding empire in China.

Pet by Akwaeke Emezi (2021)

This is a YA dystopian book that explores themes of identity and justice. This book is a Stonewall Book Award Winner and is labeled as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Best YA Books of All Time.

Love and Other Disasters by Anita Kelly (2022)

This is an adult romance book in which the first openly nonbinary contestant on America's favorite cooking show falls for their clumsy competitor. This is part of an interconnected romance series, and each book can be read as a standalone!

The Blighted Stars by Megan E. O’Keefe (2023)

This is an adult sci-fi romance series that takes place in a very trans-normative world. This book follows a revolutionary and an heir to the dynasty as they are stranded on a dead planet while they uncover a conspiracy that will change everything.

The Final Strife by Saara El-Arifi (2022)

This book is a high adult fantasy that has a very unique world and magic system. It largely covers injustice, oppression, and rebellion, and it has roots of mythology from Africa and Arabia.
